Diminishing Love

It's a wicked thing

to play with someone's emotions,

to lead them on and make them believe

there could be something more

than what's really there.

You're nothing but a heartless

soulless creature if you do this to someone,

and you'll burn in hell for your deceit.

Conveying the love lightly,

throwing them around without care,

is not what love is about, sweetheart.

If you're not ready to offer it sincerely,

then hold off for a little while longer,

till your heart is truly in the game.

Otherwise, all you'll be doing is playing,

and that's not what love is meant to be.

If you're not ready to offer love sincerely,

then close your heart and keep it hidden.

For if your intent is not honest,

Love cannot grow and will diminish.

Allow your heart to open only if you're willing

To give your love completely and unconditionally.

Otherwise, love will never find its way in,

And your life will be filled with loneliness.

Love begins with a rush,

A sparkling in the eyes,

A feeling that everything is possible.

But slowly love fades away,

Bit by bit, day by day,

As life gets in the way.

And soon enough love is gone,

A faded memory of what once was strong,

Leaving only an empty hole.
